OPEN CALL – “NOTO FIOR DI FOTO” – INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST – 2nd Edition – YEAR 2018
1. SCOPE OF THE CONTEST

The cultural associations PhôsGraphé and MagneticFilm are announcing the 2nd edition of the INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST with the title “NOTO FIOR DI FOTO”, as an initiative to promote and raise awareness of socio-cultural education.

In particular, the competition is aimed at collecting photographic material that will be exhibited during the festival of INFIORATA taking place in the city of NOTO, with the purpose of promoting culture through photographic art.

The competition is free of charge and open to all amateur and professional photographers, without age or nationality limits. A jury of experts will examine and select the best photos and appoint the winners. In particular, for each category the first three ranked participants will be rewarded (1 winner and 2 honourable mentions).

The categories:

– Single Images (Landscape)
– Single Images (Macro)
– Single Images (Monochrome)
– Story

For the 2018 edition the photo competition focuses on the theme “BLOOMING” in all its potential facets (conceptual, naturalistic, human-related, …). It could be for example the blooming of an idea, the flowering of a life, the growth of a smile on a characteristic face, and of course of the blooming of Mother Nature (flowers, trees, …). Observe the countless definitions of “blooming” in everyday life and use your creativity to leverage this subject with your own taste.
This theme applies to all four categories. In the category “Single Images (Macro)”, for example, a close-up image of a flower is perfectly valid as it is a more conceptual artwork, like a germinating seed, the frost forming on a leaf in a cold morning or the rust which spreads over an iron bar.

You can apply for only one category, either by presenting a story consisting of a maximum of 8 photographs (category “Story”), or by applying for a maximum of 3 images in one of the “Single Images” category. Multiple applications in more than one category will be rejected by the jury without evaluating their content.

For each category the jury will award a winner and two honourable mentions. Prizes will be assigned as follows:

1° classified: winning certificate (PDF), 40x30cm digital print and exhibition of the selected image during the festival of Infiorata 2018
2° and 3° classified: honourable mention certificate (PDF), 40x30cm digital print and exhibition of the selected image during the festival of Infiorata 2018.

Winners will be announced by written notice on this site and through publication on the associations’ websites. An email notification will be sent to the winners as well.

After the end of the exhibition, all the prints will remain property of the associations organizing the competition and will be stored in the private historical archive of “Noto Fior di Foto”.
